“Such a help…Andy always reassures me and gives guidance for me to work from, Many thanks.”
Drawing on years of experience we assess the computer before recommending any upgrades or repairs. If the repair isn’t cost effective we will let you know, this does happen with older or poorly specified computers. Please see the frequently asked questions section below for more information about Computer Upgrades & Repairs.
Upgrading your computer
Upgrading is an excellent way to improve computer performance and increase lifespan. We assess the computer before recommending options and associated costs.
Upgrading to a Solid State Drive (SSD) provides a dramatic boost in performance compared to traditional mechanical hard drives. In many cases, you’ll see a 3-10× speed increase – faster boot times, much quicker application launches, and smoother overall responsiveness.
The upgrade itself is typically quick: swapping out the drive, cloning data or installing the OS can be done in about 1 to 2 hours for most computers. After the upgrade, we run a bench-test for several hours to make sure the system is rock solid and free of issues.
We only supply high grade Samsung Solid State Disks which carry minimum 5 year warranty.

Repairing your computer
Repairs are required when performance is reduced or more serious symptoms occur such as failure to power on. After diagnostics the cause is determined and we will recommend the solution assuming it is cost effective. Most common hardware failure is the mechanical disk drive, these can be replaced quite easily.
As part of the inclusive service we carefully clean all computers which are being upgraded or repaired. The cleaning process primarily involves blowing out internal fans with compressed air. We also clean the outside casings, keyboards and screens to refresh the computer. All cleaning products are plant based, Eco-Friendly and not tested on animals.
Frequently Asked Questions about Upgrades & Repairs
Almost any computer can be upgraded. There are exceptions but these are extremely rare.
Upgrading a well specified computer can literally double the lifespan if done correctly.
It most certainly will. We only recommend upgrading if it has a significant impact on performance. In many cases the computer will be faster than new once upgrades are complete. SSD Upgrades offer incredible performance gains.
Sometimes yes, we will advise buying new in some cases. We only ever recommend upgrading if the existing computer is well specified and its usable life can be extended.
We always welcome more work but it is great to know some people would like to have a go themselves. If you go DIY and get stuck at any point we will be happy to help.
This is normally quite obvious. A serious failure will often mean the computer doesn’t start properly. Less serious problems are usually diagnosed by the computer slowing down significantly.
Repair costs vary, something simple could cost less than £60. More serious problems like disk failure would be around £150-200
